Western Digitnal Web page
Is it possible to take a picture of the connector?
It is possible to buy the same exact drive on Ebay, but that is always a gamble.
You could also bring the drive to a place and confirm that the connectors are the same.

I may be wrong but it is as stated certainly a sata drive. Is there any chance it is connected to a PATA (IDE) motherboard header and molex power
I just wondered if this is what cbailey249 refers to when stating
bought a SATA drive at Best Buy and that kind won't hook into my computer because the part that connects it to the computer needs little gaps in between (or teeth)
I am not quite certain what you mean by the part that connects it to the computer and gaps in between
This is PATA or IDE
This is SATA
and on the drive itself there are indeed what I suppose you could call gaps - in between
The model of the computer may solve the question.
and a picture of the drive from best buy and the cables that you disconnected from the WD drive certainly would

I bought a SATA drive at Best Buy and that kind won't hook into my computer because the part that connects it to the computer needs little gaps in between (or teeth), whereas SATA has no gaps and is one straight across, very skinny piece
Presumably I must be on a go slow - as I still cannot see how the SATA drive bought from BestBuy will not fit
After taking off the plastic thing with the pins on the end of it, it looks just like the SATA drives I bought from Best Buy that wouldn't work because they wouldn't fit.
I am still uncertain as to what will not fit on the Best Buy HDD that will on the proposed WD new HDD
Sorry again for the interruption.

You are looking at two different posts with a change in information/realization of the adapter. The first was when it was not realized that the adapter was on the drive, so it did not match. The second was when the adapter was taken off, then the drives matched.
In the end, the Best Buy drive should fit, once the adapter is put on it, assuming it was not returned :-).
