I am looking to see if there is a graphic card that will work with my current motherboard in my laptop. I know hey offered the option when I bought it but i did not purchase it at the time. I was wondering if there is one that will work or if there is a external graphics card that will work with my current motherboard. Any input is helpful thank you. Again its a Lenovo G770

:welcome: ravennick

The Lenovo G770 is/was available with various specs and among the differences where the video chips, note they are chips and not cards and so are soldered into place on the MB (motherboard) the better spec to have is the model with a dedicated video chip as if it is the 1GB spec it has 1GB of VRam (video memory) unlike the less expensive integrated video chip which shares memory with the system Ram, see attached links; http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834246130 and http://www.newegg.co...82E16834246131R

I have never used one but there is a device that allows you to use a desktop add on video card with a notebook, an example http://www.villagein...php?page=ViDock

Was the alternative spec you were offered a 2GB video chip, what do you intend using the notebook for.

I travel a lot and I am looking to prepare for Guild Wars 2. It was a 1GB chip that was offered, came with 6GB DDR3 700 GB Hard drive and blue ray player, as well as the basic Intel R HD graphics 3000. On the laptop feature it says switchable graphics but, it did not come with any other display adapter then the 3000. This is the exact model and brand i have http://www.newegg.co...82E16834246131R with out the graphics upgrade.
