I found an Embarq 660 router at the thrift store I volunteer at..obviously it was pretty cheap. But I don't see any detail on it about who it might actually be manufactured from and what it's wireless capabilities are. I'd like it be at least 802.11g for decent range, WPA, and that I just have Embarq/Centurylink 10Mbps internet with a laptop (not connected) and desktop.
Thanks!

A quick Google search showed me that the Embarq 660 series is manufactured by ZyXEL. And without a further model number it's quite hard for us to find out what standards it is capable of. A list on ZyXEL's site shows the following 660 series routers.

P-660H Series
P-660H-Tx v3s Series
P-660HN-F1A
P-660HN-Fx/P-660HN-FxZ Series
P-660HN-T1H
P-660HN-TxA Series
P-660HU-T1
P-660HW Series
P-660HW-Tx v3 Series
P-660HWP-Dx Series
P-660N-T1A
P-660R-Tx v3 Series
P-660R-Tx v3s Series
P-660RU-T1 v3s
P-660RU-Tx v3 Series
P-660RU-Tx/P-660RU-Tx v2 SeriesSource; http://www.zyxel.com...overview.shtml#

Some support 802.11n and some support 802.11g.

Olrik

Thanks for finding that info for me :)
Ok, it says 660HW ADSL Gateway and the SSID has 'ZyxEL' in it (I've never heard of them til now). It appears the router closest to it is the Zyxel 660HW ADSL2+ which is 802.11g..Although it also looks slightly different than mine in that the "WPS/WLAN" light only says "WLAN" on mine. Not sure if it's something Embarq changed or this model is too outdated to be advertised..
