Hey,
Sorry for the delay on getting back to you i had a hectic week... Posted Image
Anyway, i have removed most of Java programs using the Control Panel but there are 2 of them i couldn't remove, one is Java Auto updater doesn't have the remove option but i believe this one should stay there for obvious reasons... there is another one Java™ 6 Update 33 once i try to remove, it starts the removal process and before it ends a message comes up "Fatal error during installation" and i cannot remove...

It would be great if you could assist me on removing that PC Camera program from the panel control...

Cheers,
Maria10 Posted Image

Ok, no problem. Just to be sure, how's your computer running now.

Hi, Maria10. Do you have an idea what might have put that program there? Do you actively use a digital camera with your computer?

For Java™ 6 Update 33, try the following:

Download and install Revo Uninstaller
  • Double click the Revo Uninstaller icon on your desktop to start the program
  • Scroll through the listed programs and Right Click on the program you wish to uninstall
  • From the pop out menu choose Uninstall
  • Click Yes to the confirmation dialogue
  • In the next window select the Advanced mode
  • Click Next to start uninstalling the program
  • Answer Yes to confirm the uninstall
  • When the program has completed the four steps, click Next to allow the program to search for leftovers
  • Once complete, click Next, then Finish
  • Repeat the above steps for any other programs you wish to remove.

  • Double click on OTL to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

  • Make sure all options are set to none (as I'm only interested in what the custom scan yields).
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    C:\Windows\System32\*.cpl
  • Click the Run Scan button.
  • When the scan completes, it will open a notepad windows. OTL.Txt.
  • Post the OTL log in your next reply.

Hey Amlak,

I followed the steps with Revo Uninstaller using the option uninstall but could not get rid of the PC Camera file Posted Image , I didn't try the option forced uninstall as i wasn't sure you wanted to try something else.
Regarding your question about camera, I don't use frequently any camera with this computer and i have no idea what put this program there... Posted Image

Also in the beginning i noticed an improvement on the computer performance but it seems to be slower now. I have noticed when i opened Revo Uninstaller there are 3 icons which i don't recognise as a part of my installed programs they are as follows:

Option GT HSDPA driver suite
Option Pc cards driver package
SopCore 1.1.2

I am not sure what are they, but they all have the same icon type. ( see Revo print screen attached)

I have ran the OTL scan and attached the result to this post.

Cheers

Hi, Maria10. I may have misunderstood then. I thought you had an issue with PC Camera being an icon directly under Control Panel. My bad. In order to uninstall PC Camera, just force uninstall with RevoUninstaller (as you did previously with one of the older Java updates that wouldn't uninstall normally).

Feel free to uninstall SopCore (it seems to be related to SopCast, a free P2P internet TV program). Leave the other two programs you mentioned as they are. Unless they're causing issues, might as well keep them installed just in case.

As for your speed issue, do you mean it's slow while loading up? Or slow Internet? Extra details would be appreciated. Try the following:

Download AutoRuns here
  • Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
  • Double-click "Autoruns.exe".
  • Click on the "Everything" tab
  • Go to File then click Save...
  • Make sure the Save as type: is set to Text (*.txt) and save to a known location.
  • Attach the newly created text file AutoRuns.txt to your next reply.

Hi, Maria10. Open autoruns.exe once again. I'll have you disable some of the entries that I think you should not need enabled for startups. Disabling their startups does not mean disabling them entirely. You can always run any program when you want to run it by simply double-clicking it even if its startup has been disabled. However, if you believe you still need any of them to be re-enabled, let me know and we'll discuss things further.

Under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, uncheck the following:

  • Adobe ARM
  • Cosmi Firewall
  • DHSClient.exe
  • HotKeysCmds
  • IgfxTray
  • Lexmark 1200 Series
  • PAC7302_Monitor
  • Persistence
  • PlusService
  • ServiceManager.exe
  • SigmatelSysTrayApp

Under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, uncheck the following:

  • Microsoft Office.lnk
  • Windows Search.lnk

Under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, uncheck the following:

  • DW6
  • Google Update
  • MsnMsgr
  • V Stuff Backup

Under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce, uncheck the following:

  • Shockwave Updater

Under Task Scheduler, uncheck the following:

  • GoogleUpdateTaskMachineCore.job
  • GoogleUpdateTaskMachineUA.job
  • GoogleUpdateTaskUserS-1-5-21-448539723-220523388-725345543-1003Core.job
  • GoogleUpdateTaskUserS-1-5-21-448539723-220523388-725345543-1003UA.job

Close and restart your computer. And tell me if there's any obvious increase in speed.
