Hey,

a couple of days ago my antivirus spotted these two on my computer: trojan.sirefef.ty and trojan.generic
they keep returning and scanning the whole thing won't help, also they block my internet connection

Can anyone help me cleaing this up?

I have windows 7 running and my antivirus is bitdefender total security 2010 (license is still running)
I post this message fom another computer, but i can still enter safe mode with an internet connection if necessary

OK from safe mode with internet

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    services.*
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    /md5stop
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Media\WMSDK\Local\AutoProxyCache /s
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Post both logs

THEN

Download aswMBR.exe ( 4.8mb ) to your desktop.
Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it Click the "Scan" button to start scan

On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply

I did the scan with OTL, but I can't complete the scan with aswMBR. It starts scanning, it finds some infected files, but somewhere during the scan my computer shuts down or goes to blue screen.

  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
  • Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Was the infected file found in either OTL_moved files or Qoobox ?

When you try to connect to the internet what error do you get ?

run farbar service scanner

Posted Image

Tick "All" options.
Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.

Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

you mean of the file that bitdefeder found?

I looked at logs and it appeared that there were again 2 infectedfiles(again sirefef.ty and generic)
the location is at C:\windows\assembly\GAC_32\desktop.ini (the other one is at GAC_64)

It is just the normal error: "conection timed out..."

Could you download the attached zip file and extract the two registry files to the desktop
Right click each in turn and select merge
Accept the warnings
Reboot and try the net

OK lets reset the net connections etc.. Before we take a deeper look at the associated files and registry

Download Complete Internet Repair to your desktop

Unzip all the files to their own folder on the desktop
Within the folder double click CIntRep
The programme will then run
Select the items I have highlighted
Press go
Let me know if it is able to conduct the repair, there is a log under the file button
