Of course that would be the case, haha.
After restarting, start up was not especially slow. My desktop icons (which had been rearranged when my computer first began having problems with this virus) returned to normal after running OTL yesterday, and they have remained that way. My two browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer) are operating normally, and there are no noticeable changes, otherwise. Would you like for me to run one of the scans that were detecting trojans before I began following your instructions?

No real need as FRST would have revealed them to me. Thank you for your perseverence during this

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

Thank you so much! I followed all of the cleanup processes you have described, as well as the other recommendations you offered, and kept my computer running for the better part of a day, now. In that time, there was only one occurance that may be of concern, and that was the fact that it overheated twice within a two hour period. While it is honestly not unheard of for my laptop to overheat (despite my mostly successful efforts to keep its two fans clean and clear), it has never before done so more than once in one day. I doubt it is related to the infection that my computer had, but I thought it may be worth mentioning, just in case.
Aside from that, my computer is running without a hitch, and it's all thanks to you!
