I have the hard drive out of my ast laptop computer. A new battery is 200. and I don't need it that bad. I am looking to take the info off the hard drive. It will not run at all, even pluged in direct. Is there a usb cord I can hook to it to get the info off of it?

What won't run when hooking in direct? The laptop or the disK? If it is the laptop, but the disk works, you can get an external case for the drive (just make sure that you get the right type) and then use it as an external drive (also good for backing up data).

I did a very quick search for the battery and found one place selling them for $54 (search for "Ast Solo 9550 battery"). You could also check ebay for a cheap battery perhaps.

Amazon shows the battery for $33.61 plus $6.39 shipping. There seems to be multiple versions, depending on the number of cells. A new battery claims to be $57.
