I have numerous Google Files which are related to Google Updater and Google Updatem. In addition Google Updater and Google Updatem are in my services.msc list. Several sites suggest editing the registry but before doing that wanted to know if anyone here knows a better way to get remove them.

Uninstall them from Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.

Neither program appears in the Control Panel under Add/Remove Programs

Do any Google programs show up there? If so, uninstall them?

Google Toolbar
Google Chrome
Google Earth

Once all are gone, delete any Google folders/files and you should be clean. Then you can reinstall any you want.

Before doing anything like this it would be a very good idea to backup your hard drive, preferably to an external hard drive so if something goes wrong you have an easy way to recover.

You could also just leave them alone as 7MB is nothing as far as size goes.

Thanks. There are no google programs in the Add/Remove List.

Will deleting the folders also remove them from the services.msc list?

No. Are they Started? What is Startup Type set to?
Stop them and change the Startup type to Disabled, then you can delete the folders/files if you want.

Anything Google related in msconfig on the Startup tab. If so Disable them there as well.

What is your opinion of using the following to remove these programs?

That doesn't delete the programs or files on disk, it deletes the Service entry from the registry. The files are still on your hard drive.

I don't see any problem doing this and then deleting the files.

Do you have a good backup of your system?

This is a computer that I bought about a month and have been cleaning up.

Ran ERUNT

Set up a bat file and ran the programs. Not sure what it did.

Deleted Google files - this is what's left

However, did not delete Google Files in services.msc

Restarted computer seems to run ok

Open an Elevated Command Prompt then run the commands manually.

sc atop gudate
sc delete gudate
sc stop gudatem
sc delete gudatem

What response do you get?

Also - can you let me know how to remove uploads. I am at my global limit of 4 MB Found it under My Settings/Attachments

Is it ok to delete "Files Not Found" with Autoruns?

Question: I noticed in services.msc that something labeled "Remote Registry" is on automatic.

"Enables remote users to modify registry settings on this computer. If the service is stopped, the registry can be modified only by users on this computer. If this service is disabled, any services that depend on it will fail to start."

Is this something I should be concerned about and/or should "stop?"

Mine is set to Manual but I don't see why you can't disable it.
