If you have a computer repair shop in town they can custom make a IDE ribbon long enough for you. I use to make them up to 2 feet long when I worked in the pc shop.

Yes I am sure my brother could fix it and he lives only 15 miles away I just wanted to do try to do it. He works really crazy hours, but I'm sure he will do it if I decide to take it to him.
