None of the icons on the desktop will open any of the applications. Going through Start>All Programs won't start the programs either. The icons that are usually on the task bar are missing as well.

I ran clean disk to free up some hard disk space and since then I can't open any applications.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While waiting for a reply, did some more searching and the problem may be malware. If anyone thinks this is malware, please let me know so I can repost to the malware forum. Thanks.

Please do start a topic in the Malware Removal forum. There are several infections that can cause these problems.
