Oh dear - I think I have made a mistake!

I have had problems with my Dell laptop (running Vista) in that it was so slow as to be unworkable. I took it into a local repair shop who charged me £50 to get rid of maleware virus etc. They said that this wouldn't make a great deal of difference as the computer was so old (about 5 years) that the only way to get any improvement was to do a factory restore. So I did this (having first transferred my data to a different computer) - unfortunately the computer now starts and stop saying press f2 or f12. Basically I think I need a windows vista disc that I don't have. Has anyone got any suggestions?

What did you do to restore the computer to it's factory state?
Also, what model Dell laptop do you have?
You should still be able to order the recover DVD for the laptop from Dell.
