Hi and welcome,

What is the make and model of the drive? What operating system is running on it?

I would first run the quick and full manufacturer's diagnostic on it with the bootable disc version, most manufacturers have this available from the support section of their website. After that if the drive passes you could try to run a full CHKDSK /R from the command prompt of the Windows installation media (if you have it available).

Regards,

Troy
