My IPhone 3GS stopped phone functions after we replaced my battery. It recognizes the Sim card, but it won't make or receive phone calls. My Sim card works still in my other phone. All non-phone functions for the iPhone work properly.
I ran Reset and the "No Service" message remains..What is wrong with my phone iPhone and how do I fix it? Thanx!

iPhone 3GS:  model MB715Ll, iOS 5.1.1 (9B206), Modem firmware 05.16.05, ser. No. 87929C7N3NP, iOS 5.1.1, not jail broken.

Replacement battery:  APN 616-0435, LIS 1416APPC, Li-on Poly battery, 3.7 v, 4.5 whr, SE W US374169 A9H 02B130RK02B, RU, CE

You most likely forgot to reconnect the antenna.
http://www.ifixit.co...-Teardown/817/2 Step 11 shows a good image and diagram check to make sure you reconnected the antenna correctly first.

If that does not work here is a good link on fixing it. You may have inadvertently broke or lost a very small inductor. See the second and third images on this link, it will also walk you through fixing it.

If it isn't that you will have to trace the little tracks to see if one is chipped. The link that follows is for a 3g iPhone but you can see the images and see how to fix the broken "track".
