Hello everyone.

I've recently built a computer for my father which included a Blu-ray burner/player.

The trouble I'm having in picking out good software for it, is finding a program that does both playback and burning. Let me be precise with "burning", I don't simply mean to burn an ISO, but to create menus and full HD video.

Here is an example of my dilemma: I like CyberLink's PowerProducer's features for burning and price (the cheaper one), but does it play blu-rays well? The PowerDVD does play Blu-ray, and is in my price-range, but it doesn't burn.

Does anyone know of a good program I could use to accomplish both goals, while being around the $50 range?

Arc Soft comes highly recommended to me:

top 5 list of playback software: http://lifehacker.co...playback-suites

I would stick to this list and look through what each has to offer. Some of them offer cheaper versions that do less for video creation (powerdirector by cyberpower).

You can also check out Videolan.org for vlc player. They just recently added blu ray support. I suggest reading up on it as there may be a trick to getting it to work.

Thank you, I've downloaded a trial of PowerDVD for my parents, it seems to work great. I will aslo download Power2Go's trial, see how it handles burning bluray with menus.

Trust me, I've tried getting the VLC to work, I almost had it, but still no go.

Will definitely download Arc Soft and give it a try. But on that top five link, PotPlayer is free and claims to play bluray!! I will definitely go over to my folks place and give it a shot.

Thanks again.
