Ok i got a Toshiba Satellite Pro and it is a piece of junk. I know it used to have alot of junk spyware and etc. I got on the administrator account and went to system restore and all it does is revert it to a previous state. I want to COMPLETELY WIPE IT as if i just had bought a new one. Everytime i return to a previous state it just seems in the same working order as before. I dont have recovery disks and it runs on windows xp. Its a rather old laptop but if it still runs im still going to use it. I just want to start it over again completely and I dont know how without disks. I have held f8, f1, and 0 before as it started up but no other options came up it just goes straigh to log in. One last time I WANT IT TO WIPE AND DELETE EVERYTHING WITH NOTHING BESIDES FACTORY INPUTS ON IT. I want it cleaned completely with no previous restore dates. Thanks for helping.

When you tap F8 or whatever key it takes to get to the list of start-up options (safe mode, last known good configuration etc). If your laptop has a partitioned recovery drive. There will be an option called "Repair Your Computer". Select this option. Go down to "Restore Application". When prompted, click on "Full Factory Recovery" and that's its done.

You need to find out what F key brings up your start-up options. You should keep tapping the F key and not just hold it down. Try F8 first and then F10 and so on.

This method will work on certain Toshiba laptops.

1) Hold down the power button for ten seconds to switch off your machine
Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.
2) Press and hold the zero key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook
3) When the machine starts beeping, release the zero key
4) When prompted by the warning screen, select Yes to continue with the system recovery
5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software and click Next
6) Select Recover to out-of-box state and Click Next again
7) Click Next to Start the recovery

If neither option works (you should definitely be able to bring the start-up options up). Then you have no recovery drive and you'll have to use a Windows disc to format and then reinstall Windows.

It might be worth noting that if you have a function key. "FN" someone may have edited the BIOS to change how the function keys work. You may have to keep the FN key down while pressing the F keys to get the list of start-up options.

Firstly welcome to Geeks to Go.

I think you have already asked this question once, on 3 August.
When on this link

you posted

Got a laptop. Dude who had it before loaded it with porn so it super slow. I just want it to be wiped so I can use it, but I don't have cd and don't plan on buying one. Thanks for help.

You made that post at 0301 hrs.

At 0847 PM or 2047hrs the same day you posted

does anyone know how? still no replies...

I do appreciate that from 0301 until 2047, may seem like a long time, when you are seeking help, but please do remember that Geeks to Go is a free help site.

More to the point, one of our Malware staff, namely CompCav did in fact reply to you at 2130 hrs.on 3 August,

What is the model number of your Toshiba and what operating system (XP, Vista 7) is it???

However you never responded and the topic was closed on 7 August, as is normal practice in our Malware forum.

That all said, as you can see advice has now been posted here on this topic, where you are reading this and we await your response.

NOTE
It may assist if you provided the model number of the laptop. eg C850
