I recently ran reg cleaner and tried to clean and speed up my son's Dell netbook. Now we can't connect to internet. It is always "acquiring network address". I read through the other posts and followed these instructions. as well as running some other fixes from other posts. here is the copy of the logs. Nothing has helped yet. Is there anything I can do? Can you Help me? :)

Please download FarbarServiceScanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
http://download.blee.../farbar/FSS.exe

Make sure the following options are checked:
Internet Services
Windows Firewall
System Restore
Security Center/Action Center
Windows Update

Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Please download MINITOOLBOX and run it.
http://download.blee...MiniToolBox.exe

Checkmark following boxes:

Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Devices (problems only)

Click Go and post the result.

1.Create a restore point then copy and paste the contents of the code box into a notepad and then save it to your desktop and then right click and select merge then reboot your machine.Do this for each of the registry fixes one at a time.
2.Now download the winsock repair tool run it then reboot your machine.Post a fresh minitoolbox log when done.

Now download the windows repair tool and run it with the following boxes checked.
http://majorgeeks.co...748a38eb328614e

Reset registry Permissions
Reset file permisssions
Register system files
Repair WMI
Repair windows firewall

ok i did each step here. In the end still no connection. here are the new logs after all the merging and running fixes. I did not previously know anything about restore points. so i saw the last note at the end to go back and choose an old restore point after I had tried the fixes. I had to research about creating/using restore points etc. So now I will try to pick a really old restore date and see if I can get back online.

Are you trying to connect to the internet wireless? Have you tried connecting to the internet using an Ethernet cable? Are you trying to connect using Windows XP's software or the software of the wireless cards manufacturer?

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled your wireless network card?

As of now the only thing that is stopping your internet connection,is the following error in the code box below.

ATTENTION!=====> C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\netbt.sys FILE IS MISSING AND SHOULD BE RESTORED.

1.Download the netbt.zip file that I have uploaded for you then unzip it to the desktop of the sick machine.

2.Hold the windows key and r at the same time then type C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers when the folder opens then, drag the unzipped netbt file into the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers folder close everything and then reboot and check your connection.

Moderation Note; Microsoft File Attachment Removed.

hi,
I"m hoping the nice person whom helped U may also help me. I'm not sure where to post this otherwise? My system restore page comes up blank and we have not been able to connect for about 5 days now with ATt uverse tho the other desktop right next to it connects fine and so does the laptop?? Even with using the ethernet cable from the other desktop, unable to connect? have windows xp). I have tried resetting the connections tho might have put in the wrong IP addy but then did the automatic config too.
Currently I am running superantispyware on it to see if I have a virus...
Any help would be appreciated!

Rockmilk, sorry to post here again but I did also post where U suggested. LIke I mentioned, when I try to open my systems restore, I get a blank page so I think that's my problem also, would it hurt if I skipped the mini/bar and just do that netzip? (tho is the windows key the 4 square flag key by alt?)? Or is there a shortcut to just check the systems restore?
The superspyware says my computer is clean now...
Thanks again
And good for u 7000!:)

Yes. I used the last instruction you gave me which was to copy the netbt.zip and copy it to the drivers folder on the other computer. It's still up and running. Thanks again.
