Before I got my new printer, I used to scan stuff with my old printer and the images defaulted to Microsoft Picture Viewer.

I have upgraded to same printer, just later model. Now my images scan to Paint.

I want my images to scan to MPV back to how it was - how do I do this?

I believe you set that up in the printer options.

What is the make and model number if the printer and is this Vista or Win 7?

Printer is a Brother DCPJ125 on Vista.

I went to Control panel and "printers" and right clicked the printer mentioned but no "options" per say just "properties" and "preferences" and I didn't see anything in there relating to scanning.

You do this via Brother ControlCenter. I have a MFC-J410W with Brother ControlCenter3.

At the top right click on Configuration then Scan then Image. Pick the Target Application.

Thanks, that certainly is the location but when picking the target application in the drop down menu, it doesnt have Microsoft Image viewer in there.

I then went to add it and found some problems;

1. It wont let me type the full name "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" - it runs out of spaces for letters
2. when I shortened it and tried it told me that the "application location is Invalid" - I got the location off Picture manager when right clicking on the program and going to properties.

Sorry, I don't have any other suggestions. That is the only way I know of to modify the Brother scan settings.
What you did sounds correct so I don't know why it didn't work.

I just tried doing exactly what you said you did and it worked for me. I got the path to the executable from the context (right click) menu of the program link, pasted it in and it took it and works fine.
