HI folks;
The copy and paste function no longer works in Word 10, Excell 10, or in my note pad. this has been going on for about a week and I cannot resolve the issue. My restore point does not go back far enough to resolve the issue. in other words the only thing I know to do now is a system repair with the original Win 7 Prof disk or and ISO COPY that I set up before using Win 7 Prof. I really don't want to do either tasks unless I have to.
I've never had to do this before. But I can follow directions.
I appreciate any input.
thank you for your help.

Let's try to use the other CTRL keyboard commands.
Try to type something long in Notepad and select the text by pressing CTRL + A. Now press CTRL + X and the text should disappear.
Please reply with the results.

lets try sfc /scannow...
Click on start...type in cmd...right click on Cmd.exe and click on Run as administrator.

In the elevated command prompt, type sfc /scannow and press Enter

The sfc /scannow command (System File Checker) scans the integrity of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible.
