So I have a Compaq Presario SR2170NX
that I have determined that needs to have the system recovered: http://www.geekstogo...view=getnewpost

SO...I grab my recovery discs (that I purchased from HP and they have worked successfully before), put it in the drive and restarted my computer, it reads the disc and starts the recovery manager. It goes through the process, asks for the second disc, and the process says it finishes successfully.
I take disc 2 out and restart as instructed to finish the windows setup.

When it restarts all I now get is a message that

"BOOTMGR is missing press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

doing so of course doesn't help.

The only way I can get any thing to happen is if I put Disc 1 of the recovery disc back in, but all that does is run through the recovery program again


So my question is...Am I screwed at this point?

There could be number of reasons for this message. We'll go through some easy steps first.

When you put your recovery discs into your computer. Did you change the boot order in BIOS to get the disc to boot before the hard drive? Change the boot order so your computer is booting from your hard drive first and post back the result.
