hey guys, how r u all? i need some help, whenever i go to friends places etc. and i take my laptop, i can log into his wireless network but i can never find the other computers that are shared on his network. i go to my network places and look for workgroups etc. but i cant find anything!! i cant even seen his workgroup!!! this is really frustrating, as im not a beginner at wireless networking i can connect to it etc. i have a pretty good knowledge but its just whenever i connect to any wireless network i can never see the other computers and browse their machines for shared documents etc.!!!

guys, is there any program out there that shows me all the different clients on the wireless network that i connect too??? ;) :help: :help:

is it a workgroup or a domain? if it is a domain you need a username and you need to join the domain with your laptop wireless connection or not. otherwise check your ip address and make sure it is in the same scope as the rest of the workstations. try pinging a few of them to see. i would also check the default gateway on the pcs and set your laptop to that. if he has a router on the network and you dont set the gateway you wont be able to see anything. also in a workgroup environment sometimes computers wont show up unless they have something shared, though a workgroup with nothing shared is pretty useless.
