The gather files are probably from speccy. You can uninstall it and if they are still there afterward then you can uncheck them in Autoruns.

The way your video works is it shares memory with your system. What is happening during the black screen is that the video driver has to wait for the system memory to get freed up before it can do its thing. You either have to add RAM or live with the slow boot and the black screen. It's not really a KSOD since nothing dies and it eventually goes away. It's just a BSOB. (Black Screen of Boredom). Fujitsu was stupid not to put in 2 GB at the beginning but I suppose it must have worked before the service packs and other updates came out or you wouldn't have bought it. As far as I am concerned that's the cause of your BSOB and no driver is going to fix it. So it's time to clean up:

You can uninstall or delete any tools we had you download and their logs.
To uninstall combofix, copy the next line:

"%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix.exe" /Uninstall

Start, All Programs, Accessories then right click on Command Prompt and Run As Administrator.
then right click, Paste, then hit Enter.

OTL has a cleanup tab if you go there it will remove itself and its logs.

To hide hidden files again (OTL may do it for you):

Vista or Win7

# Open the Control Panel menu and click Folder Options.
# After the new window appears select the View tab.
# Remove the check in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
# Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Do not Show hidden files and folders.
# Check the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
# Press the Apply button and then the OK button and exit My Computer.

Also make sure you have the latest versions of any adobe.com products you use like Shockwave, Flash or Acrobat.

Whether you use adobe reader, acrobat or fox-it to read pdf files you need to disable Javascript in the program. There is an exploit out there now that can use it to get on your PC. For Adobe Reader: Start, All Programs, Adobe Reader, Edit, Preferences, Click on Javascript in the left column and uncheck Enable Acrobat Javascript. OK Close program. It's the same for Foxit reader except you uncheck Enable Javascript Actions.

To help keep your programs up-to-date you should download and run the UpdateChecker:
http://www.filehippo.../updatechecker/
(You don't need to download Betas and if there is a program you don't use you can just uninstall it rather than update it. Exception is MSN messenger which appears to be part of Windows.)
If you get a blocked program notice after installing updatechecker then change it to not run at start then manually run it once a week.
Seems to work best if Firefox is the default browser. You can also try Secunia PSI http://secunia.com/v...l/download_psi/ Same kind of info. You don't need both.
If you use Firefox then get the AdBlock Plus Add-on. WOT (Web of Trust) is another you might want to try.
The equivalent to AdBlock Plus for IE is called Simple Adblock and you should install it too: http://simple-adblock.com/
The free version only blocks 200 ads a day so another reason to use Firefox or Chrome.

If Firefox is slow loading make sure it only has the current Java add-on. Then download and run Speedy Fox.
http://www.crystalidea.com/speedyfox . You can run it any time that Firefox seems slow.

Be warned: If you use Limewire, utorrent or any of the other P2P programs you will almost certain be coming back to the Malware Removal forum. If you must use P2P then submit any files you get to http://virustotal.com before you open them.

If you have a router, log on to it today and change the default password! If using a Wireless router you really should be using encryption on the link. Use the strongest (newest) encryption method that your router and PC wireless adapter support especially if you own a business. See http://www.king5.com...-120637284.html and http://www.seattlepi...ted-1344185.php for why encryption is important. If you don't know how, visit the router maker's website. They all have detailed step by step instructions or a wizard you can download.

BSOB explained what I didn't have any error message on the Event Viewer. This is clear for now. I need to buy RAM stick.

Is it possible to put on the ram bay 1 stick of 2 Gb and 1 Gb stick ?

I hear that Win7 could run with only 1 Gb ram stick, is that true ?

I have two little troubles if you can help me.

1. From my Admin account, I can't unzip files located in the Downloads folder of the User account. I have 'Access Denied', is that normal.

2. I disabled the hibernate mode, running cmd as Admin, powercfg.exe /hibernate off. I noticed that hibernate is still appearing on the start menu.

The site I looked at said your PC can only have a maximum of 2 GB. I would get two 1 GB sticks.

It's possible that Win 7 will run fine with 1 GB but I don't think it would boot much faster that your Vista. I have 4 GB in my Win 7. It came with 2 and was a bit slow booting so I added another 2. I bought 2 4GB sticks to max it out but haven't got around to putting them in.

I think this is the same on Vista and Win 7. You can't access the Download folder directly. You have to go through the Downloads shortcut.

If you can get into the folder and it won't let you unzip a file then right click on the file and Unblock it.

This is usually caused by overly restrictive options in Internet Explorer. (Doesn't matter if you used another browser to download them as the other browsers all read IE's settings.)

In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Security and Reset All Zones to the Default Level. OK. Future downloads should not be blocked.

2. I disabled the hibernate mode, running cmd as Admin, powercfg.exe /hibernate off. I noticed that hibernate is still appearing on the start menu.

If you have turned off Hibernate then the hidden system file C:\hiberfil.sys should be gone (or at least allow itself to be deleted). I expect that Vista does not remove the option from the menu unless the file is gone. See the workaround on http://www.mydigital...-windows-vista/

I told you about 2Gb +1Gb because I read on the fujitsu forum, a user installed 3 Gb ram on a AMilo Pro, even if F-S officially said that the max. Ram memory is 2 Gb.

I right clicked on the zip file and I clicked on 'Unblock', Apply and OK. Then, I unzipped again, and I still have the 'Access Denied' message. I have Firefox as default browser. Do I need to Reset all Zones to the Default with IE ?

Yes, I don't have hiberfil.sys but I still have as I showed with the screenshots, 'hibernate' on the start menu. I don't understand why it won't disappear.

Please download GrantPerms.zip http://download.blee.../GrantPerms.zip and save it to your desktop.
Unzip the file and run GrantPerms.exe by right clicking and Run As Admin.

Put the full path to the file ( c:\Users\Flore\Downloads\filename.zip ) in the Edit box and then
click List Permissions (on mine it says "ist Permissions") and a text file called Perms.txt will popup.

Normally it will say:

GrantPerms by Farbar
Ran by Ron (administrator) at 2012-08-27 17:32:06

===============================================
\\?\c:\users\Ron\downloads\430guide.exe

Owner: BUILTIN\Administrators

DACL(NP)(AI):
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM FULL ALLOW (I)
BUILTIN\Administrators FULL ALLOW (I)
Shelly-HP\Shelly FULL ALLOW (I)A copy of Perms.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

If it doesn't look like the above as far as the permissions are concerned, then click on Unlock and when it finishes OK. List Permissions again and it should now show the same results as above. Try to unzip the file now. Does that work?

Try to remove hiberfil.sys using the Disk Cleanup method in the link I gave you. (Doesn't matter that the file doesn't exist. Windows may not know that yet. If you try to remove it then it may decide to fix your start menu.)

Hi Ron,

This is the perms file

GrantPerms by Farbar

\\?\C:\Users\Transparence\Downloads\hw32_402.zip

AUTORITE NT\SYSTEM FULL ALLOW (I)
BUILTIN\Administrateurs FULL ALLOW (I)
PC-de-Flore\Flore READ/EXECUTE ALLOW (I)

After running GrantPerms I unblocked the file and try to unzip, but I still have the 'Access Denied'

Now, I clicked on Unlock (GrantPerms) and my perms file changed

I didn't have hiberfil.sys on the Disk Cleanup, that's why I asked you, because hibernate appeared on the start menu

hi Ron,

Look at the Intel support answers about igdkmd32.sys and black screen. Their reply sounds bizarre.

Windows is working the way it is supposed to. It doesn't want a user to do things to other users' files. What you can do is take Ownership of the file. Then you should be able to do what you want to it. http://www.vistax64....rship-file.html

I agree the intel response makes little sense. The normally short period of black is normal so may be what they mean by "by design." Your BSOB isn't but I'm 99% certain that it's just a RAM problem.

Go into Control Panel, Power Options. Get into the Advanced Settings like he does here:
http://www.howtogeek...rid-sleep-mode/

Look at each option to see if it talks about Hibernate or Sleep and if it allows it to be Off then make it so and Apply it. Then open a Command Win dow:

Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator, Continue. Type with an Enter after each line:

powercfg -h off

powercfg -a

On mine it now says:

The following sleep states are available on this system: Standby ( S3 )
The following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Hibernate
Hibernation has not been enabled.
Hybrid Sleep

When I click on my Shutdown button I no longer have a hibernate option (tho oddly enough I do still have a sleep option)
