I have a dlink wireless router. When I turn on my computer in the bedroom I get the internet and within a short period of time my icon says that I have local connection only.So I disconnect and reconnect and then it sometimes is fine for a while then the same thing happens. So I try a repair and it says it was successful but i still get local access only. Very annoying when I am in the middle of searching or just surfing. Do you think it is the computer or the router. I have an acer running vista. I have 160 gig hard drive and 3 gigs of memory, 32 bit operating system.

when I did the update it would no longer let me into the internet at all so I rolled the driver back. So everything is still working the same way. It still kicks me out. Man I am thinking I should just reformat is it cannot be fixed.

Open autotruns and uncheck the entries listed below. If you can find the program related to these entries in your add remove programs menu you should un install them as they are not needed.

+ "BTGuard Updates.lnk" "" "" "c:\btguard\settings.exe"
+ "uTorrentBar Toolbar" "Conduit Toolbar" "Conduit Ltd." "c:\program files\utorrentbar\tbutor.dll"
"Task Scheduler"

I also see that you have the program rapport installed try removing this program and rebooting.

Anther thing that you can do is remove macafee from your add remove programs reboot and run the removal tool.
http://majorgeeks.co...41092ce224.html

Mcafee is known for causing connection issues along with rapport try running without rapport and mcafee a couple of days to see what happends.

While you have mcafee removed substitute it with avast.

Let me know how it goes. :)

Due to the error in the code box below I would like you to do the following for everymachine that you own in your house.Doing this will make it so that your machines will not be able to share files though. But it will stop one computer from being the boss so to speak...

For each machine in your house please hit the start button then type services.msc then once in services find the computer browser service then right click it then stop the service. After you stop the service then right click it and select properties then set it to disabled.

Now open an elevated command prompt and run the commands below one at time hitting enter after each.

nbtstat -R

nbtstat -RR

Now reboot your machine and the issue should be gone. :)

Please follow the advice from my colleague rockmilk

I am about to sign off as it is 0127 here in the UK

There is a point that comes to my mind that my colleague, as I am signing off, may advise you further on

In the results of a scan he asked your for I see
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Belkin Wireless G Desktop Card

However I also see from another scan that you have

Linksys Wireless-G PCI Network Adapter with SpeedBooster

I just wondered which you are using and indeed which driver you have installed that then did not allow you access.

The linksys was taken out. I then installed the the belkin wireless. When I did the update driver I went into device and right clicked on the belkin and clicked on the update driver so I think I updated the proper driver but I will double check to see if I had the right one.
