Computer won't allow me to change screen resolution

My computer has a 15" flat-panel monitor which is set at 1024 x 768. Over at the library, they also have 15" monitors which are set at 1280 x 1024. When I tried to adjust the resolution on mine, the highest on the list was what I already have. The only difference is that my OS is Windows 7, the library's OS is Windows XP. Why can't I go any higher? (below is a list of hardware components, if that's any help)
