May I add that you will notice that the importance of a backup is stressed on that guide

A repair of XP SHOULD preserve all your data, but it is not 100% certain that this will be the case.

There are two ways to ensure that your personal data is secure

Which you use depends on the ease of removing the HDD - hard drive and connecting it in an enclosure or docking station by usb to another computer.

You may then access the drive and secure your data. Presuming of course that the 7500 photos - images are stored on the computer in a format that can be read, other than by accessing photoshop eg. jpegs

If you do not have the means to do that eg.the drive is not easily removed - some netbooks etc or you do not have an enclosure you may use Puppy Linux as on this guide here.
http://www.geekstogo...over-your-data/

the error that is stopping you loading Windows, will very likely, NOT prevent you from using Puppy.

Boot to the XP CD
On the option repair using recovery console key R
do so
then it will hopefully ask which windows installation do you wish to repair
normally there will only be the one
key the number
you should now be at the prompt

type
chkdsk /r
and follow prompts

If you are VERY lucky and it is a slim chance - after it has completed exit the console and take out the CD and try a normal boot.

See this for instructions

Before we proceed HAVE you got everything backed up

When you come back and I respond after that you need to stay online while we try and mend it
