Keyboard port not working

The keyboard stopped working, so I restarted, and when the computer came back up I heard several beeps which usually means there is a snafu somewhere. I get no response from the keyboard or the other 2 keyboards I've tried. I know the keyboards work. If I go to the device manager in system the keyboard doesn't show up. The caps lock and num lock keys don't work, in short it looks like my PS/2 port has gone bye-bye. If I unhook the keyboard and turn on the computer I get no beeps, which I thought was strange. Any ideas anyone? It's hard to do diagnostics with only a mouse.
