I am Running windows 7 with Netgear N300 wireless ADSL2+ Modem router and talktalk ISP

My internet continually drops/disconnects I have gad my PC checked out under warranty twice and manufacturer (Palicomp) has had on test over 5 days showing no problems at all

I contacted TalkTalk who carried out several tests and confirmed no problem

Both companies claim the fault lays with each other

I have checked all my connections and all OK i therefore renewed asdl filters and new ASDL ethernet cable and purchase new modem/router all to no avail

My connection drops out daily as many as 7 times a day and I have to press reset button on router to get it back

Driving me mad can anyone help please

Download Autoruns and Autorunsc Unzip it to your desktop and then double click autoruns.exe After the scan is finished then click on File>>>>>>>>>>>Save The default name will be autoruns.arn make sure to save it as Autoruns.txt under the file type option. in other words make sure it is a .txt file instead of .arn Attach the text in your next reply.

Please download MINITOOLBOX and run it.

If this is ADSL2+ then it could very well be a problem on the phone line. To check, you can perform an isolation test. I want you to test the wall point where the RJ-11 cable connects to your modem. To do this, remove all devices (from all wall points that use the same phone line) and connect a single phone with a nice short RJ-11 cable. You should be able to pick up the receiver and hear the dial tone. What you are listening for is any other background noise or static. If you can hear any other noise there is a problem on the line.

If you do have any other noise on the line then there will be two things to check - one will be to contact your phone provider who manages the phone line (over which the ISP will connect your ADSL). Tell them there is noise on the line and they need to fix the fault. The 2nd thing to check will be if the issue isn't resolved after this, you will need a data cabler to perform a service in your home and check/repair the wiring.

If after all this the issue still isn't resolved, we're left with a few options. 1) replace the modem, or 2) change ISP (extremely rare but it has happened to me once).

Also you are welcome to perform rockmilk's instructions above (it sure wouldn't hurt); however I wouldn't believe it to be the computer as it has already been tested by the manufacturer.
