Hello,

My daughter bought a new pc.
She gave me her old one.
She new she had a problem, but wasn't sure what.
I checked it and this is what I get.

I boot up and after a few or ten minutes, the screen goes blank,
than blue, with all these letters and words, and at the bottom a code,
or codes with alot of numbers and zeros.The BSOD only appears for a few seconds
and than shuts down.I don't even have enough time to write down the codes.
I thought of deleting the OS, and than reinstalling Windows 7.
But not sure if that would work or how to go about to do it.

Any help would surely be appriciated.

The system is Windows 7. (HP Tower.)

Hi John, sorry to hear of your problem. These kind of problems are really best solved with a direct inspection of the unit. We just start 1x1 testing things and eliminating the most common causes until we find the problem. It could be anything from overheating to bad memory, even possibly a virus.


Please supply the following information:

The manufacturer is HP, but please supply the exact model number(important).
If you know, how much memory do you have?
Type of processor (CPU) and speed.
How big is your hard drive, and do you know how much space is used on it?
How old is it?

Additionally, press F8 at boot time to get to the Advanced Boot Options menu and select Disable automatic restart on system failure. Then the next time you get a BSOD the screen will stay there and you can record the data and post it here. You could take a picture with a digital camera and post that here as well or instead of.

The BSOD haven't been up lately, but now I get a black screen.
The computer goes off a few times, 4or5 times, than will stay on for awhile.

I haven't been on it myself, my wife goes on it.

I will try and get the info of the computer and see for myself what its been doing.
