I had a computer given to me and everything works fine, but I put in a music cd or a cd with pictures and it will not do anything. I can put in a SD card and it reads it fine. I even manually went into my "E" drive and it says "please insert disc" and I do and it is not even there. I am running Windows Vista on a HP Pavilion. Any help would be appreciated. I need to clean out this computer and get rid of crap that I do not use. Thank you.

Replace the optical drive (CD/DVD).

As for cleaning up the computer, there should be a Recovery Partition on the hard drive you can access via the Start Menu or by pressing a Fn key during boot. How and which depends on what computer you have. Post the make and complete model number and we can help you with this.
