Hi there, i got some serious problem that i think some of you could help.

I just got my new laptop and install Windows XP Pro (SP2) along with the program that i need - about 2 days ago, everything went fine until today... (so this windows xp is just 3 Days old!) :help:

I have noticed that Internet Explorer, Maxthon, Viewing CHM help file or even opening the Integrated Help in Visual Studio..basically everything that depends on displaying HTML (including my project that i'm working on) would take ages to load! and my CPU usage would Maxxed out (100% usage and the laptop Fan kicking in!) as well as HDD seeking like my parition is 99% fragmented. :tazz:

I tried defragmenting every parition, tried offline defragmentation, chkdisk, virus scan, I have gone through the instruction provided and i'm quite sure that my laptop is 100% clean, i have try the Repair IE method using IE.inf file but still no luck. :help:

This is my Hijackthis Log: i have read through it, and since i have some knowledge about computer...it looks really normal :help:

I don't know whether defragmenting has anything to do with this, i'm not sure whether it happens after i defrag the drive using O&O Defrag and let it use LAYOUT.INI to perform some optimizations or not ;) Does it has anything to do with this ??? Or anyone has another idea???

And another thing, the Balloon help is suddenly gone! FreeDownloadManager will popup a balloon help when it finishes downloading...now i just heard the sound effect but...no ballon box???!?!?

what's happening!?!?!?

And my laptop is: Hp nx8220(Sonoma 1.73Ghz/512MB DDR2/80G 5400rpm,8MB Cache) which is, in my opinion, fast enough to open IE within 2-3 seconds...

"Installed Windows XP Pro" - was this upgraded from another OS?

I suspect your problem is system resource related. That is, with your high CPU Usage (Task Manager), there's nothing left over for ANYTHING fun. Using Taskmgr > Processes tab, and sorting on the CPU column, find our what piggie pgm is suckin up the resources. Tame it and you'll be on to your next problem... ;)

Good Luck. :tazz:
