You are using a cracked version of you tube downloader, that may be the source of your problem. Could you uninstall that please and let me know of any improvement

I uninstalled Youtube downloader, also youtube to mp3 converter. I restarted and cleared the cookies, but it's the same, I see only a black screen in Firefox.

In IE however I can see Youtube videos without problems, but I get again the message "an add-on for this website failed to run"

Download the Flash remover from here
Close all browser windows and then run it

Then download and run Flash for IE from here
Next Flash for Firefox from here

Do videos display now ?

I reinstalled flash, but no change.

Maybe it has something to do with Adblock Plus I have in Mozilla?

Yes, it does...I disabled it and now I can see Youtube videos. I hadn't noticed problems with this add-on before.

I see it has in its block list several stuff with ||i4.ytimg.com, which I think would should be youtube.

I think the browser may be a little bit faster. Still pages loading slow and refreshes needed, but maybe not that often. Also if I let some pages load by themselves, they seem to load faster than before.

I can't get rid of the Windows notifications:

1. It doesn't recognise Avira antivirus, telling to find an online antivirus
2. It says Windows Defender is turned off, when I click to turn it on it opens the folder Windows/system 32

What can I do about these?

Also I was thinking of trying Google Chrome, as I've heard it's faster. My problem is I can't stand the way text displays in Google Chrome, it's blurry and difficult to read. Firefox and IE display it much better. What settings should I modify? Is it a problem of Windows 7? I've seen Google Chrome used on XP for example and it reads very well.

Edit: I just found a tutorial on this issue!

"Right-click on the Google Chrome icon on the desktop and choose "Properties".
Select the "Compatibility" tab and check the "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" checkbox.
Apply the changes and click OK to close the properties dialog."


And it works, text shows normally now :)

Just some moments ago I noticed a toolbar called Mysearchresults in Firefox. I see it's a spyware, but I don't know how to get rid of it, it doesn't appear as an add-on in none of my browsers. I figure it came along with the installation of IE 10 or Google Chrome?

Could you go start and type in services.msc
One file will appear at the top of the search select that
Locate windows defender right click and select Properties
In the drop down box set Automatic (delayed start)
Press Apply > Ok and reboot
Does defender work now
