Reading the reviews on amazon, and they're very inconsistent. One says the laptop never gets hot hot, but one says it almost burned him. One says you can never hear the fan, another says it's the only thin he ever hears. Do you have any experiences with this laptop? I also heard Dell was not very reliable, and I should stick to Asus, Sony, and Samsung (in that order)

No I have never used the model of notebook, it was suggested for the good spec and reasonable cost.
An ASUS for you http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834230648 I would have preferred it to have 8GB of Ram though.

Wow that fits almost everything I need. Sorry to be so picky but do you know of a laptop that is similar to this, but has 15-16 inch display? And to shed a few bucks, is there on for a more casual Internet user (not a gaming one, which is what this one is categorized under). I'm not going to game on my new laptop. Also, I could go for 4-6 Ram, and a processor made for casual Internet use.

Okay, did a little more research and laptop digging, and found this: more than I need for a good price
I just feel Asus is more reliable, and it only costs 30 bucks extra

A fair price and a decent spec + the reviews are positive

God I love both of these choices...but there can only be one! The laptop you suggested is 17.3 inches vs my 15.6. Which is good and bad in the sense it has more screen, but is bigger so is less convenient to carry. Also yours weighs a full pound more. And another thing, is Windows 8 as bad as people say it is? From what I see, it is a very organized start menu with the most useful things you need right there.

I like Windows 8 and do not find the Metro element of it irritating as many people do, once I added the Start button back to the taskbar of course http://lee-soft.com/...enu-update.html
