re-formating windows 98 on a old fujitsu laptop

Hi all , thing only thing about pc's i know is how turn switch them on so all information given would be gratefully accepcted,i have an old lifebook im trying too download wins 98 on.i have both floppy and cd rom authentic disks,i've tried loading them as some information i found on older replies off this site but it only downloads upto 41% then tells me hard drive is not formating,click continue,then D:\WIN98 appears and it does nothing else,can anyone help? thanks Jase
