Yes force a restart, then once you have booted back up see if the shutdown works, if it does not let me know

Result! Finally shut down with Sys Config upon reboot. Also shut down with windows as it used to. Thanks! Will I need to leave these settings intact?

Wow, everything runs so much faster & smooth now. Maybe I leave it this way?

You can if you wish however, some programmes will run a lot slower

But we can track it down to the one causing the problems

Within MSConfig now re-enable half of the services that you disabled
Reboot and then try a shutdown
Does it still work ?

Re-enabled all but the ones listed as unknown source. Shuts down fine. Should I try enabling the unknown source services one at a time & shutting down?

Things are running much slower again since I re-enabled the known services so one of more of them is slowing my pc to a crawl. I can't figure out how to get you a screen shot. Ideas?

Open task manager to the desktop
There should be a key on the keyboard entitled prnt scrn or something similar (basically this will print the screen to memory
Open Paint and select Paste
Then either crop the image to include just the task manager or post the whole image

Can't get it to copy here. Everything up to paste in paint worked perfect but get it to paste here. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Tried that. It wouldn't attach. Are there certain file types that won't work?

No it will take all image formats, do you have dropbox ?

OK disable half of the re-enabled services and see if the culprit is within that group
If it is not then disable the other half and re-enable the half previously disabled is it in that group

Re-enabled the bottom half & couldn't even get online. Re-enabled top half & so far so good. Culprit must be in the bottom half.

Now it's gotten all screwy. Missing sound drivers etc. I need to figure out a way to get you a list of my services without transcribing them. I do have dropbox. What can we do there?
