OK will check that out, I have just burnt 3 dvd's using various programmes and they all work as they should.. Albeit I was putting it on a VM

Tried that with inbuilt windows disc image program using dvd-r, stalls at same point. I'm burning a +r now, will see if it makes a difference.

Nope. gets to "setup is starting" & just stays there. Arrgh.

Thank you so much for your help, Essex boy, but it's looking like we have gone as far as we can sorting this. All your procedures should have solved this.

I believe this is a faulty HDD problem so I'm going to rethink a bit of Xmas expenditure & replace the hard drive.

Thanks again, I'll be donating to you guys.

My apologies for being unable to find a solution.

After two days of trying everything I could think of I was unable to replicate your situation.
But on the plus side you do have an install disc for windows, ensure that a record is kept of your licence number as MS will probably need to be phoned to validate the fresh install
If you do need to phone them then it is a free call number and takes about 5 minutes.
