for past couple of days the only way I can shhut down or attempt to restart is by powering down. First noticed after installing new Norton System Works 2005 and Write Express software. When prompted to restart the problem occured. Saw on this site a link to similar problem so I got rid of Adaptec/Roxio and tried a couple of other things suggested but no go!!!

Also can not restore to earlier time. I'm getting burnt so if anyone could give a simple man a simple approach it would really help me to stop stressing

interesting .. try to disable nortorn then chek .. or unistall it then chek i think some services are not ending thats why it hangs or waits ..
