My windows xp will not open any files at all. I get this error "file not associated with a program." It doesn't help to download any files because it will not work. I tried working with folder options in control panel to no avail. I cannot delete any virus, malware, spyware programs installed or disable them with my limited knowledge. I tried running regedit but it wouldn't do anything. Can anyone help me?

Hi Pinkkitten :welcome:

I have some questions:
- Can you access the internet on the computer?
- Does it run any program you have installed?
- you got the error "file not associated with a program" when you try to open a .doc file or when you run Microsoft Word for example?
