Hello,

In the last month or two, I have been having problems with my pc. It has become very slow, prompted to create macromedia flash .sol files, opened IE randomly to pages like amazon.com. What used to be an almost instant shut down or put to sleep, now takes several minutes. When I put the pc to sleep, I can come back later and the pc is active---not really anything happening that I can see, but the hard drive sounds busy.

I have also downloaded and executed Microsoft Security Scanner which finds Exploit:Java/CVE-2008-5353-AAL and Exploit:Java/CVE-2010-0840.EX.
After running this, I have uninstalled and re-installed Java, but it finds the same problem after a couple of days.

My OTL.txt is as follows---

Welcome to GeeksToGo Synthergy,

I would like to check a few more scan logs please.

Download HijackThis from Here. Then click on the downloaded file, and install HijackThis.

In HijackThis, click Config - Misc Tools - Open Uninstall Manager.

Click on Save List, then save that to a location you can locate again (such as the desktop). Copy/paste the contents of that back here please.

----------

Download RogueKiller (http://www.sur-la-to...om/RogueKiller/) to your desktop. Click the RogueKiller icon next to:

(Download link) : Lien de téléchargement:).

Close all open programs
Remember to right click -> run as administrator, and click the downloaded file.
When prompted, type 1, and press Enter.
A RKreport.txt will be created in the same location as the RogueKiller file.
If the program is blocked, do not hesitate to try several times. If it really does not work (it could happen), rename it to winlogon.exe, and try again.

Please post the contents of the RKreport.txt.

---------

Download aswMBR ( 511KB ) to your desktop.
  • Double click the aswMBR.exe icon to run it
  • If you can have an open Internet connection, and allow it to download the latest Avast engine detections.
  • If avast! antivirus is already installed, just do the next step.
  • Click the Scan button to start the scan
  • On completion of the scan, click the save log button, save it to your desktop and post it in your next reply.

Glad to be of help. FYI - that scanner locating Java exploits may actually be picking up Java updates, mistaken as malware.

That uninstall list seems a little shy - please check it when you can.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Search.
  • A logfile will automatically open after the scan has finished.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[R1].txt as well.

Mostly remnants showing in AdwCleaner. There is an F-Secure entry I don't recognize right off, but since you have Kaspersky installed, we should remove it.

Be sure to continue to temporarily disable any protective software when running the scan tools we use here.

Go to Start - Control Panel - Programs - Programs and Features/Uninstall, then click on each of the following programs, if they show there, and click "Uninstall/Change".

F-Secure PSC Prerequisites

---------

Follow the steps here to disable Windows Defender. It is not known to locate and remove malware, and can interfere with functions.

---------

  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Delete.
  • Confirm each time with Ok.
  • You will be prompted to restart your computer. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

Then in AdwCleaner click the Uninstall button, to have it uninstall itself.

Open AdwCleaner, and click the Uninstall button to have it remove itself.

----------

Download ComboFix.exe from here to your desktop, then click that to run that scan. Agree to any warnings you might receive.

A caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop.

Allow the scan to run. When completed a text window will appear - please copy/paste the contents back here. This log can also be found at C:\ComboFix.txt.

I admit I don't see any F-Secure functions loading. ComboFix didn't pick up much, though good to check. Still having the same issues there?

Open Hijackthis.
Click Config - Misc Tools - Open Uninstall Manager again.
A list of the entries in Add/Remove programs will appear.
Click to hilight F-Secure PSC Requisites then click "Delete this entry".

-------

Disable your antivirus program and click here and download the esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe Eset installer. Then click that file to run the scanner.

If you accept the Terms of Use, check the box and click Start. It will take a couple minutes for the scanner to get ready. When the Computer scan settings display shows, check the following boxes:

Remove found threats
Scan unwanted applications

Next to "Current scan targets: Operating memory, Local drives", click the "Change" word. Make sure you place a check next to all disk drives, including any external drives that are attached (no need to check off the floppy or DVD/CD-Rom drives).

Then click the Advanced option, the place a check next to the following (if it is not already checked):

Enable Anti-Stealth technology

Click Start. This scan may take a while, so please be patient.

If infection is found, at the end of the scan click "List of found threats".

In that display, at the bottom, select the option to save the results as a text file, and save that to your desktop. Post that back here please.

Post that log please.

Jintan, my apologies---somehow I managed to delete the last e-mail notification. I had been waiting for a response and decided to check deleted items and found that I was in error.

I ran HiJack this and attempted to delete F-Secure PSC Requisites however, but I could not delete the program. I refreshed the list after the attempt and it still remains. Will run ESET now and post those results.

First for me - using HijackThis, you were blocked from deleting the Uninstall entry?

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Search.
  • A logfile will automatically open after the scan has finished.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[R1].txt as well.

Going to have to find what's keeping that F-Secure setting alive.

Be sure to continue to temporarily disable any protective software when running the scan tools we use here.

Click here and download the installer for Gmer to your desktop, then click that file to run Gmer.

Once the opening scan finishes, click on Scan (again, before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while this scan completes. Also do not use your computer during the scan).

When completed, click on the Copy button and rightclick on your Desktop, choose "New" > Text document. Once the file is created, open it and rightclick again and choose Paste. Copy the information and post it here please.

-----------

Open Gmer again. Once it has completed it's opening scan, this time just right click in the white space in the display and select Options - Only non MS files. Then click Scan and allow Gmer to run a different scan. Once that completes click on the Copy button and rightclick on your Desktop, choose "New" > Text document. Once the file is created, open it and rightclick again and choose Paste. Copy the information and post it here please.
