My friend is running Windows Vista. Upon noticing his desktop didnt seem right he tried a reboot and now cannot log into Windows Vista. The Laptop boots fine thorugh the BIOS and starts to load windows ok. At the password screen for windows he trys to input his password and upon typing the first letter of his password he gets the message access denied. He has taken it to the local PC shop who have said that they have not seen anything like it and that its a trojan or virus probably with a keylogger used to gain his password.
As with many people he has no back up of his data, 10 years work and 20Gb. So he doesnt want to wipe and start again. What options are available? Can you clear the Vista password at logon? Is there an antivirus DVD he could use to clean this [bleep] thing? Any ideas most welcome, thank you in advance.

http://www.geekstogo...ystem-tutorial/ The AVG disk might help.

Also:

http://www.hirensboo...BootCD.15.1.zip

Download, save and then right click on it and Extract All. Click on BurnToCD.cmd and follow the instructions to burn the CD. Then move the CD to the sick PC and boot off the CD. (You may need to change the boot order so the CD drive comes before the hard drive. See: http://www.hirensboo...-order-in-bios/ )
Boot into MinitXP then click on HBCD Menu then Programs. I think there may be some help there. If Hiren's mini XP won't run it's a sign that the hard drive is corrupt.
