I notice my system is running a bit slow so I feel it is time for a cleanup. Please assist me in determining what to remove. Thanks much!

Hi James,

Please assist me in determining what to remove

Well we should start off with WINDOWS :tazz:

Please print out a copy of this to make it easier to follow as you will need to reboot your PC several times. Follow these instructions carefully, they may appear to be complicated but i am confident that with teamwork we will clear this up

Download and install CleanUp! Here

Download a free 14 day trial of ewido from the link below. Install it and start it up. Follow the prompts to upgrade it, then close it down.

ewido

Set PC to show hidden files (click link if you do not know how)LINK

Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find: .Service: ZESOFT
Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK.

Please run an on-line virus scan at Kaspersky OnLine Scan or if that doesnt work, you can use TrendMicro or BitDefender. (Please post the results of the scan(s) in your next reply)

Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Now run Ewido. click on the Scanner button, Select drives if you have more than one and then start. grab a cup of coffee, sandwiches, book as this may take some time. Once the first problem is detected ensure you tick the box for all (bottom left) and allow it to continue.

At the end of the scan, it may ask if you would like to delete anything found in archive or zipped files, OK that request, then click on save report. SAVE to the default location, it will then generate a text file. Copy that to post in this thread.

Rescan with HJT and check the following entries if they still exist.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D80C4E21-C346-4E21-8E64-20746AA20AEB} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [navapp] C:\Program Files\NavExcel\NavHelper\v2.0.4d\navapp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sdQGhD] C:\WINDOWS\twbybkqp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [v6t1ehn5] C:\WINDOWS\system32\v6t1ehn5.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sdQGh$v/fC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\twbybkqp.exe
O23 - Service: ZESOFT - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe (file missing)

Ensure no windows open except HJT and click fix checked.

Now using windows explorer locate and delete the following files if found:

C:\Program Files\NavExcel\NavHelper\v2.0.4d\navapp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\twbybkqp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\v6t1ehn5.exe
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\ <<---entire folder
C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe

Then run cleanup to clear out temp files, junk etc.

Now reboot pc normally, resan with HJT and post the log back
