I recently did an "overinstall" of windows XP using my restore disk because of several problems my PC was encountering including no taskbar, no sound coming from sound card, and other really annoying problems.
After I did the overinstall, all those things work fine, except that now I can't change my desktop background. It seems like my computer isn't keeping track of changes I make. Folder options don't stay as I set them after I close the window, icons won't stay arranged by size, even my font in AIM preferences reverts back to the default after I close the preference window. Every time I use norton recycle bin, it gives me an error when I close saying "Unable to update registry to save column order and width information."
