I've just bought myself a new laptop and decided to add a 120GB SSD to the existing HDD (750 GB Hybrid with 8GB Flash) to hold my OS and more resource-intensive programs. All was well, including reinstalling the OS (Win 7 Home Professional, 64 bit, SP 1) until I went to format the old HDD. I suspect I may have accidentally deleted the only partition. It's recognised by the BIOS, but doesn't show up in the Disk Manager, nor is it recognised by Windows Explorer.
I've tried booting from the Windows recovery disc to re-format it and it doesn't give me that option for that drive. I tried adding a partition, which the Disk Manager does recognise, but it only comes out at 100MB, and still doesn't show up in Explorer. (To make matters worse, I suspect Windows may be using that to put the boot manager on, because now my new install won't work anymore. Argh. I have set the new drive to be the one it boots from, of course.)
Neither HDD has any important data on it yet, so I'm happy to reformat either of them as necessary.
Sorry if I've left out something important, but it's 4.00 am - thought I'd ask before I lose any more sleep over this...
