I can not access My LG 500GB external hard disk

I use LG 500Gb external hard disk for data storage and back ups. Today i waned to use it, but i could not access it. The response i get is that the directory is corrupt and not readable. when i plug it to my PC, it will make a sound once, but when it was working properly, it will sound twice before i can use it. I can not format it since the data inside are too important to me. Please some one help PLEASE!

Personally I think this external drive is dead in the water Offor, however you could try running this piece of software to try and get to your files.
