The 3rd line in your 1st list (....windows\tmp\software.bak) says "file could not be copied".

I finished with the commands. The one I mentioned earlier failed to copy plus the one below it.(line 4....\sam.bak). All others were successful.

I am away at this time. no it is still sitting at the c prompt. I am waiting for instruction and will be a few hrs before I will be to the computer

Yes it boots up normally now. The speed is about the same but I will get more ram when you finish with it.

If the computer should freeze again at any stage then I would recommend that you stop the programme using task manager. As an unexpected shutdown can cause parts of the registry to break

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL

• Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

  [Reboot]

• Then click the Run Fix button at the top
• Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

• Click Start.
• Open My Computer.
• Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
• Select the View Tab.
• Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
• Click Yes to confirm.
• Click OK.

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link

I have finished the run/cleanup process through OTL removal. The computer is performing about the same as before the BSOD occurred. There was one incident as follows: I installed FH Update Checker and updated google earth. When I clicked finish and dragged the g.e. icon to a different place on the desktop it blue screened with the error message below. I didn't do anything to the computer. It counted up to about 90 and rebooted on its own. Windows came up and has been doing fine since.

Could you attach the latest minidump from C:\Windows\minidump (you will need to zip it to attach it) I do not think it is anything major, but the reference code is for hardware
