When I tried to shut down, the computer locked up on the "windows is shutting down" screen. I had no control of the computer including the mouse. After an hour that went away and a black screen appeared with the message "DISC BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISC AND PRESS ENTER". Thats where it sits now.

We may be looking at a hard drive failure here
Reboot the computer, does it go back to windows ?
If so could you let me know the make of your hardrive

Is there a way to reboot at this point other than the start button? I'll get the hd make from setup or I'll pull it out of the case enough to read it.

Ever since the freeze when shutting down recently, it is doing ok. I could use a little more speed at times so I have ordered 2gb ram that should be here in a few days.

OK again watch it for a day or so, as I do have concerns about the two latest problems, they may have just been one offs but they will bear monitoring
