Hi new here, and I've got my first problem.

I was searching for p2esocks_1020.dll when I found a topic on this on this forum by annarusso on aug. 15th.

Well I might have something similar, because I also got all kinds of XXX-stuff

So I followed the steps in the second post (Trend Micro scan, The cleaner and Ad-aware) and found many wierd stuff. Now that that was gone, I rebooted etc.
But then I still got an error in loading p2esocks_1020.dll Can't find the module.
So now I ran I hijack log and hopefully one of you can help.

I have the feeling it's got something to do with TVMedia.exe and specialoffers.exe,
however I don't feel comfident enough to just delete them

Please get the latest updates via http://www.windowsupdate.om/ and post back with a new log. Otherwise, an unpatched system (like yours) will just get reinfected easily, making what we tell you useless.

Thanks for the help in the first place

Now I went to windowsupdate using the windows update function and downloaded all the optional security packs for IE and windows (there were some other options such as journal viewer which I didn't select)

Rebooted and ran a new hijack this log

I also installed mozilla firefox and I am using that right now, however the windows update functions still run under IE (don't know whether that is a problem) also installed the sun jave vm environment

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\SpecialOffers.exe

Reboot your PC.

Hi thanks for the fast help

I've completed the previous instructions, and all seems fine
The funny things in the log at least seem to be gone and the p2esocks_1020.dll doesn't appear anymore (I removed that earlier). Also the firefox browser doesn't react funny and haven't checked IE (why would i want to use that anyway?)

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats.
