I was given a 4s Iphone from a lady and it's at&t.
I fixed the screen on it, fully worked, got on facebook, everything
No sims card came with it
I updated it on itunes to ios6, and now it won't go past the 'needed sims card' mode
I don't have a sims card
Can I purchase a pay as you go one so that it will over ride the system and let me in? Or do I need a real at&t card? Or what are my options?

You can purchase a SIM card from a prepaid provider like StraightTalk, and activate it with no contract. For $45/mo you can get unlimited voice and text, plus about 2GB of data. Other plans are available.

After you get your SIM card, connect your iPhone to a wi-fi network and connect to this site using Safari: http://unlockit.co.nz/ Select StraightTalk as your provider and you'll get a small file to download.

A couple of caveats, visual voicemail won't with a prepaid provider (unless jailbroken), you can get fast HPSA+ speed. Lots more info in this wikipage: http://wiki.howardfo...ght_Talk_iPhone

So this will get the iphone passed the 'no sims card' screen? Even tough it's at&t service?

Yes, StraightTalk buys their network coverage from AT&T, you use the AT&T towers and get the same coverage areas. AT&T also has their own prepaid service called GoPhone, but it seems more difficult and expensive to connect an iPhone to it ($65/mo 1GB data).
