How possible is it to get Windows games to run on Linux? I personally am disgusted by the fact Microsoft is stabbing a lot of there core userbase in the back with this Metro nonsense. If they keep going in this direction, I might jump ship to Linux. How well can I get Windows stuff to work on Linux?

In Linux there are several ways to run window games. The first one known as WINE lets you run window games natively in the system. They provide a list of games based on a bronze, silver, gold rating on overall performance. However, with WINE you also run the chance of getting window virus in the Linux environment you run. The second option involves using a program such as virtual box and install a version of windows 7 in the virtual machine. This means you provide how much space, ram, and specifications you want to run in the windows machine while still having Linux running as well (in sense two OS's in one). The third option is the now beta tested steam client that runs in Linux and I must say it is progressing very well in the type of games available, Hoped this helped.

first, you don't have to run the "metro" ui. You can simply go straight to desktop and run windows as you always have.

Steam is now officially supporting linux. complete list of games: http://steamlinux.flibitijibibo.com/

To run steam on linux best works with Ubuntu. It is possible to get to work with other distro's, but not officially supported by Valve at the moment.

The Steam for Linux official game forum is worth joining for future beta announcements and other information, as well as active discussion about the client and games.
