Hi. I recently went through the process of having malware removed in your Security forum. The person helping me successfully removed the malware, but now I've encountered a lingering problem that I need to ask about (actually, the person who helped me told me to ask this in the Windows forum). Quite simply, every time I click on my Start button and then "Turn Off Computer", my computer freezes. And I mean really freezes -- I can't do anything with it at all (get the hourglass cursor), and this lasts maybe 2 or 3 minutes. Note that this does NOT happen when I click on Start and then Log Off -- only Turn Off Computer.

I've never had this problem before, so I can't believe it's a coincidence. So, my question is, is it a lingering effect of the malware, or a result of something I did in the cleaning process? Thanks again.
