Hello, I just bought Star A5000 with Android 2.2.1.
It is a chinese smartphone.
It has Market app, and I want to install google play store.
I can't find it in search.
Can anyone help with this?

Hi, I just tried but it failed.
I have tried to install it 3 times. The first time all was ok.
I saw that instalation was succesfull, but I could not find the app anywhere.
Not in manager applications, nor to the menu to run the application.
All the next times, I saw the message that the app is installed, and if I wasnted to proceed.
But I can't find the application nowhere...
So I can't uninstall it either

The Market app should have automatically been updated to the Play Store if your device was compatible. Failure of the APK tends to confirm device incompatibility. At this point I can only think of rooting your device to see if it would then install... Or continue using the Market app.

Yes, I don't know if it is the most commonn solution, but it has.
If I use my phone, I have the Market App. It has not transformedto Google Play.
But if I goto google play, through my computer, it works fine.
It recognises that I have the smartphone, and I can install apps from there

Yes market transformed to Play after a while...
Though the phone was destroyed...Very bad quality

I had bought my mom the huawei ascend and I bought straight in mainland china itself, anyone know how to root this thing? I seriously want playstore for her so that she can get her apps but i can not get it.. as in, have tried to download several versions online but it seems the phone is blocking it.. even the GPS wont work (google gets blocked at times in mainland china)

Any idea what to do ?
