Hello,

I have a Gateway T6836 laptop and I'm going to be upgrading soon to a new one and wanted to give this one to my 13 year old son, but what I would like t do is upgrade from vista to 7 (screen res won't allow for windows 8), wipe the hard drive and memory to make it like new again with as much of the GB space as possible. I also wanted to transfer his bought and paid for version of Minecraft. I don't know much about laptops and have no idea where to start or how to do it myself and I'm not about to start doing things without help :-)

All the help I can get on this subject would be most helpful... please keep in mind that I'm a novice so I don't understand computer lingo beyond the basics so spell things out like I'm 5 lol.

Gateway T6836
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Hard drive: 232 GB
Windows Vista Premium 64 bit
Intel Core Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz

Thank you all so much in advance for the help
-Jenn

Please explain a little more what you mean as a system capable of running Windows 7 and even Vista should be capable of running Windows 8.

Windows 8 system requirements http://windows.micro...em-requirements

May also be of help http://msdn.microsof...s/hh780612.aspx

You can wipe a HDD clean but doing the same with memory is not required or indeed possible.

I am not a gamer and so cannot help with anything relating to minecraft so hopefully their forums will be of help with this http://www.minecraftforum.net/
